Whilst trying to find out what became of RAF Watchfield, where I
spent many happy hours rigging vehicles for heavy drops, I came
across the following site, which I'm sure will interest those of
of you who would like to know where all those fighter and
bomber dromes have gone to.

<http://www.homepages.mcb.net/bones/index.htm>

The site hase been well constructed and, in my opinion, is a
little gem for pilots. If you do find it interesting, not to say
of use to you, do the right thing send an email and let the
webmaster know that his work was not in vain:-)

Have fun - I did

Whilst trying to find out what became of RAF Watchfield
On the following page
http://archive.thisiswiltshire.co.uk/2002/3/13/193938.html
(found by Googling) I found

"Fred (Guilmant - aged 86), who was awarded the Air Force Cross in
1944, has recorded a wealth of stories about his time at Watchfield.
Copies of Fred's booklet "RAF Watchfield, which was born, lived and
then died during the war years of 1939 to 1946" is available at public
libraries.
Fred can be contacted by writing to 187, West End Road, Southampton."

(Cautionary note - the web page was published on March 13 2002)
