It was announced yesterday that the RAF Millom museum is to take a lease on
the former HMS Macaw site and its remaining buildings (a former RN Air
Station - non flying) nearby to the existing museum. The site will be
initially dedicated to the Fleet Air Arm, Fleet & Royal marines along with
Army and Military Vehicles. There will also be a Home front display
including two prefab bungalows.
It is hoped to have a limited opening from Easter weekend at this site and
fully open in 12 months.
A third site is also being currently being discussed to act as a
restoration/storage facility centre for the many aircraft and vehicles etc
we currently have in storage throughout the North West.
